Task

Hand taping and finishing gypsum board walls.

Exposure

The worker typically holds the finisher's pan for long periods of time while applying the tape and joint compound to the gypsum board walls. The pan is smooth metal with hard angles introducing contact stress to the hand. Because the worker is required to wear latex gloves and the surface of the pan is so smooth, force is required to hold onto it.

Intervention

Worker put foam tape at the edges and bottom of the pan to protect from contact stress of the edges. The tape also introduces friction which reduces the amount of force needed to grip the pan.

Material

Roll of foam tape for friction.
