Task
Drilling multiple holes into aluminum filters using a gang drill.
Exposure
The gang drill is mounted on a fixed surface that requires the operator to flex his torso thirty degrees or more to observe the drill bits during the process. This exposes the worker to risks associated with awkward posture and repetitive motion.
Intervention
Using a pallet and blocks, they were able to raise the gang drill up to a level supporting a more neutral posture for operation of the tool and observing the drill bits.
Material
Pallet and blocks were materials found on-site. Expense was minimal.
