Task
Drilling holes through roofing material and into concrete on the roof.
Exposure
Normal drilling requires workers to bend over at the waist, or kneel to perform the task. This exposes them to musculoskeletal risk from contact stress and vibration in an awkward posture.
Intervention
Using conduit, this worker created a fixture that he attached to the drill, allowing him to stand in an upright posture while drilling the hole. He attached bicycle grips over the conduit handles of the fixture to reduce his exposure to vibration.
Material
Conduit and bicycle handlebar handles.
