Task
Moving materials up to the interstitial level for installation.
Exposure
Workers must climb a ladder into the interstitial space while carrying the expandable duct material with them, subjecting them to awkward postures and unsafe conditions. Hundreds of sections needed to be delivered introducing repetitive motion to the task.
Intervention
Twine was threaded through each of the units and then one worker positioned up in the interstitial space lowered a hook made of all-thread down to the worker standing on the floor who then attached the twine to the hook, allowing the unit to be lifted. The other worker then raised it up. No need to climb the ladder more than once.
