Task
Screws are being set into RMF tiles to secure the tile.
Exposure
Originally the worker was on his knees crawling across floor as he inserted and set the screws, exposing him to awkward posture, static posture and repetitive motion. Next he moved to a kneeling cart that provided knee cushioning and improved movement, but caused him back pain.
Intervention Process
Ultimately, he changed to a stool bringing him up off his knees and into a more up right position reducing the awkward posture. His feet were firmly on the floor allowing him to "walk" while seated and move easily across floor as he secured hundreds of tiles with screws at all four corners of each tile. The repetitive motion of the job remained, which required him to take "walk/stretch" breaks frequently throughout the shift.
Materials
Stool was found at an automotive shop for under $100.00.
