Task

Air handling system upgrade with new blades.

Exposure

Once the unit has been moved out of its housing, each of the blades are replaced with new ones. Once the new blades are in place, they then need to be positioned correctly to assure balance. The blades are heavy and forceful exertion in awkward postures is needed to hold the blade in place by one worker while another secures the bolt.

Intervention

The workers designed a fork-like fixture out of unistrut to hold the blade in place, reducing exposure to forceful exertion and awkward posture.
